Woodstock, nestled in inner Southeast south of Powell, is one of Portland’s oldest neighborhoods, with some houses dating back to the 1880’s. Early 20th century homes are interspersed with post-World War II construction as well as some infill modern construction. Quiet neighborhood streets attract those who want the convenience of being near Foster-Powell and Hawthorne without the hubbub.
Woodstock Elementary is the only school within the Portland Public School district that offers an immersion Mandarin program, and for this reason among others, it has become a hot neighborhood for young families.
The heart of activity of the neighborhood is concentrated around Woodstock Boulevard between 39th and 52nd, which boasts restaurants, shops, and the famous Otto’s Kitchen. Woodstock Park is also a community jewel and attracts not only nearby residents but those looking for a great open space and dog park.
